Who should have a vein consultation
Chronic venous insufficiency occurs when leg veins fail to return blood efficiently to the heart. It can cause:
- Leg swelling
- Aching legs
- Varicose veins
- Skin discoloration on the lower legs
- Venous ulcers (sores near the ankle)
Sudden swelling in one leg with pain or warmth needs urgent medical attention. Call 911 or go to an emergency room.

Vein treatment in Kendall: common questions
What vein treatments does amavita offer?
We offer modern catheter-based treatments, including thermal and non-thermal vein closure. Whether treatment is right for you depends on your symptoms and your ultrasound. If it is, we tell you where and when it is done.
Are varicose veins only a cosmetic problem?
Not always. Varicose veins can come with swelling, aching and skin changes, which are signs of chronic venous insufficiency. A consultation and ultrasound show what is going on.
