When a stress test may be recommended
Stress testing (exercise or pharmacologic) is one of the tests your cardiologist may recommend, depending on your symptoms and risk factors. People often ask about it when they have:
- Chest pain or pressure with activity
- Shortness of breath when walking or climbing stairs
- Known or suspected coronary artery disease
- A doctor who asked for a heart check before another procedure
Chest pain that does not go away with rest is an emergency. Call 911.
