We accept Humana
Yes. We accept Humana. We'll verify your insurance for free before your visit — no surprises.
Many Humana members have a Medicare Advantage plan. We also accept the Humana Medicaid plan. If your Humana plan is a different kind, call us and we will check it for you.
Plans differ, even under the same name. Before your visit we confirm that your own plan covers it. Call (305) 249-5666 with your insurance card in hand.
How a Medicare Advantage plan works for a specialist visit
A Medicare Advantage plan replaces Original Medicare with a private plan. The plan, not Medicare, sets what you pay.
- Each plan sets its own copays. A copay is a set fee for a visit or test.
- Most HMO plans require a referral from your primary care doctor before you see a specialist.
- Some tests and procedures need prior authorization. That means the plan must approve them first.
- The 20% rule of Original Medicare does not apply. Your plan's own copays apply instead.
This is the general rule, not a quote for your plan. We confirm your own coverage before your visit.

Humana questions
Does amavita accept Humana?
Yes, we accept Humana. Plans differ, so we confirm your own coverage before your visit. Call (305) 249-5666 to confirm your specific plan.
Do I need a referral?
Most HMO plans require a referral from your primary care doctor. Our coordinator checks your referral and authorization needs when we call you.
What is prior authorization?
It is your plan's approval before a test or procedure. Office visits and vascular ultrasounds usually do not need it. A nuclear stress test, a cardiac PET scan and procedures at the surgery center usually do under Medicare Advantage and Medicaid plans. Our coordinator checks this when we call you.
How soon can I be seen?
Most new patients are seen within 5-7 business days; earlier appointments may be available depending on physician schedule and the reason for your visit. Urgent concerns are prioritized. Call (305) 249-5666 to check current availability at our Kendall or North Miami Beach office.
